Screwdriver Project (AEID 1385 Rapid Prototyping)

Screw Driver Handle
(AEID 1385 Rapid Prototyping)
Early Sketches
The idea for this screwdriver was to make a handle that was shorts and a little larger in circumference than a normal screwdriver. This would allow the user to grip the handle better and to not experience fatigue while using the driver.
Renderings
This project went through several renderings after trial and error in finding the proper size of the handle, and working to find the proper size of the shank hole to get a friction fit. From left to right the rendering are in order from first to final.
3D Prints
These are the three prints from the renderings above, they are orders in the same way. The first print was too large in circumference and the shank hole was too small. The next print was adjusted in circumference and the shank hole was made larger, it turns out to be too large for the shank. The final print was both the right dimensions in the body and shank hole.
Final Print
The final print has a press fit shank, rounded grooves, and is a smooth sleek design. It feels great in the hand and is highly functional.
